About 900 pupils from 97 Otago schools competing in the annual Otago primary schools athletics day, which attracted a large crowd in windy but sunny conditions.

The event, which debuted in the 1930s and has been a popular fixture since, was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, but poor weather forced it to be moved to yesterday.
