Tori Peeters continued her dominance in the javelin at the Caledonian Ground on Saturday.

The Taieri athlete threw a distance of 49.37m to win the women’s event from Laura Overton, who threw 45.08m. Peeters (22) showed consistency, as the shortest of her five legal throws came in at 48.66m. She managed her best effort in her third attempt.

It was the third consecutive competition this season in which she has broken 49m, although her throw was a way back from the national season-best 53.19m she managed in her last performance. Despite that, it is up there among the best in the country this year.

Taieri’s Ethan Walker (14) impressed to win his grade in the men’s event with 46.12m.

Meanwhile, Leith’s Nathan Hill blitzed the field in the 1500m to win the event in 4:08.87. The 16-year-old finished more than seven seconds ahead of second-placed 20-year-old Jake Jackson-Gramm, of Caversham, who ran 4:16.04.

Fifteen-year-old discus thrower Hamish Mears put on another top performance, throwing 44.09m, finishing 10cm shy of his personal best. Mears also threw 13.18m to win the men’s 15-17 shot put.

Mayce Ballantyne (22), of Taieri, threw 43.26m to win the hammer throw, while Emma Ryan (17), of St Paul’s, threw 42.98m to win her grade. Todd Bates won the men’s event with 49.71m.

In the high jump, Cameron Miller (16) and Daniel Rogers-Bromley (18) both jumped 1.80m to win their grades. Rogers-Bromley, however, was a victim of a format that sees jumpers allowed just six jumps. That left him with only one attempt at 1.85m, which he missed. Jamie McAuslan was the best of the women, winning with 1.60m.

Gore athlete Andrew Allan (16) was the best of the triple jumpers,  managing 13.10m into a slight headwind, while Taieri’s Mikayla Thorn (17) jumped 10.09m to win the women’s event.

One-day registration Caspar Harvey ran 11.73 into a reasonable headwind to win the men’s 100m, while Christina Ashton ran 12.90 to pip Fiona Centers, who ran 12.96, in the women’s race.Felix McDonald (18) won the 200m-400m double, in 23.03 and 50.21 seconds respectively. Centers won the women’s 200m in 25.81 and Lily Cunningham was the best of the 400m runners, winning in 61.51.
