New Zealander Paul Martelletti placed 14th in the Berlin Marathon, with a time of 2h 16m 49s.
The race, which attracted 33,000 participants, was won by Kenyan Patrick Makau, who set a new world record of 2h 03m 38s.
The women's race was won by compatriot Florence Kiplagat in 2h 19m 44s.
Previous men's record holder Haile Gebrselassie withdrew from the race, while women's world record holder Paula Radcliffe finished third.
