Inspired by last year’s achievements

Here we are in 2025 already, did that come around fast or what? The festive period is fading from memory and I have dug out my, "I’ll circle back to that in 2025" list, now that I have remembered what I do for a job.

As we begin to plan our way forward into 2025, it’s always helpful to look back at what was accomplished in 2024 — and boy did we have some fun last year.

From the MLT Moonshine Trail event at Dolamore Park, to supporting Gore Main School to brighten up its spaces with some fresh paint and fun new activity stencils, to Parks Week celebrations at Tulloch Park in Mataura, our all abilities and ages inclusive road show event in Hamilton Park and carrying on the great work being done in East Gore with the Neighbourhood Play System, we did our best to support the Eastern Southland community to be active every day, in some pretty fun ways.

We worked alongside primary and secondary school cohorts, Eastern Southland-based medical centres and social services teams, we distributed $57,000 to local sport and active recreation groups to run their own programmes and events to support local physical activity and we worked with other local groups on the ground to support them through making physical improvements to their facilities and active environments. We were busy, and we loved every minute of working alongside the community and our supportive stakeholders to achieve great things.

What will 2025 bring? Hopefully more of the same fun. We promise to continue to work alongside our local people, bringing everyone on the journey as we work together towards supporting Eastern and the wider Southland community to be more active and enjoy the benefits that increased overall wellbeing brings. We hope to see you all along for the ride!
