The exhibition is the culmination of work done by Southlanders who took part in Southland Educations art classes for adults.
Class tutor Michelle Dawson said people came from all walks of life took part in the classes which taught techniques including water colour, acrylic, drawing and lead lighting.
Ms Dawson said the artists met once a week for eight weeks in Esk St and were free to make whatever art they wanted.
Some of the artwork includes paintings of landscapes, animals, duck-shooting open day and even a doll with a rabbit mask.
"You can help them but it's about what it means to them, how they feel and how they can put that on the page, that helps people with their wellbeing because they can express themselves."
Ms Dawson said there was something about working in a class with other people that created a real atmosphere.
One 94-year-old woman came because it was a great chance for her to come into town and have a cup of tea and a chat while doing some art.
The exhibition will also feature the work of guest artist Carmen Owen, ’ who loves making portraits of animals and wildlife.
