The Deep South Glass team are very excited about the way their business is flourishing.

Earlier this month, the team moved from Leet St to larger premises at 24 Bond St.

Deep South Glass co-owners Dan Fisher and Phil Williams said the new premises were a good move for both customers and their team.

"The premises have ample off-street parking for our customers and the team has a spacious workshop to operate from.

"We simply had outgrown the Leet St premises much faster than we expected. Business was going extremely well; more staff had been taken on to ensure they continued to meet customer needs and expectations.

"We also have an apprentice glazier Tyler McLeod, who is achieving great results in his training levels.

"We feel it’s important to keep investing in the future of the industry by ensuring we have qualified tradespeople coming through the ranks. People will always need windows and glass of some description, so the future of the trade is secure and a worthwhile investment.

"Even though we have grown, the goods and services we offer remain the same.

"We are passionate people and get quality products," Phil said.

Our product range covers the full spectrum of glass end use including frameless glass showers, external wind breaks, framed and frameless glass balustrades, splashbacks and general glass repairs.

Aluminium window and door maintenance is also undertaken.

While glazing is something people need all year round, some work is better completed in summer — such as double glazing.

"Now is the best time to get measure and quotes sorted, so the work can be completed before the winter is back on us."

The decision to retrofit double glazing in a home never stopped at the finances as it was a significant investment worthy of the benefits it returns, Dan said.

Double glazing can be installed into both existing aluminium and timber window and door frames.

The improvement the thermal insulation double glazing offers is one of the most obvious benefits following installation.

"It’s important to understand double glazing is not a one-size fits all situation, as houses in different parts of the country require different types of double glazing. That’s why we need to have a good discussion before starting on this journey," he said.

Thermal control gains also need to be considered to ensure the best outcome of an investment.

Double-glazed windows create a thermal barrier which helps to deal with "weeping windows" from condensation.

Solar control, using tinted glass, was especially important in Southland because of the region’s high UV levels.

Tinted glass reduces heat and glare while maintaining the right amount of light into your home – lessening damage to carpets, furniture and artwork.

Noise, whether it’s from a road, school, neighbours or simply noisy kids – noise pollution has the ability to lower the quality of our lives.

It is an important consideration to discuss with the Deep South Glass team when the team comes to assess your house.

"The discussion is all part of of our service, but really is the most critical aspect when a person is deciding home insulation options," Phil said.

"Remember the first step is: give us a call — so you can arrange a professional chat with one of our qualified team members."
