Over 2000 people turned out to celebrate the opening of Mount Hutt ski field on Saturday, on what Ski Area Manager, David Wilson, described as the best start he'd seen in nine years. It's been over 15 years since the ski field was open during May, and Wilson said the early start had been a tough push for staff, but that the hard work had paid off.
