Georgia coach Richie Dixon will have no mixed emotions when his side takes on Scotland in Invercargill tonight.

The Georgian side will have its first hit-out in the World Cup, and is looking forward to taking on Scotland, a team which needs to improve greatly.

Scotland had a less than convincing win over Romania on Saturday, while Georgia has been training for more than a week in both Queenstown and Invercargill, and will want to hit the ground runningDixon said his team had been working hard in training but would be wary of a Scottish team which would want to improve on its game against Romania.

"I believe Andy [Scotland coach Andy Robinson] and his boys will take that as a wake-up call and they will target us as a team that they will want to put on a much stronger display against," Dixon said.

Dixon, a former Scottish coach, is fully concentrated on the match and not thinking of his heritage.

"In today's professional world, you can't change your heart. Obviously, I'm a Scottish boy but, when I'm with the Georgian boys, I'm 100% with them. It will be another international game."

The Georgians are ranked 16th in the world, but played above that four years ago in France, beating Namibia and then pushing Ireland close. It will be targeting its match against Romania in Palmerston North on September 28 as a game to win but will also want to give Scotland a hurry-up.

Georgia finished as the top team in the European second-tier qualifying pool and the side had plenty of support, Dixon said.

"The people are fully behind this team. They realise that rugby has become a window to the world for Georgia. Genetically, I think they are made for rugby. They are warrior-type players."

Only two players in the Georgian team do not play club rugby in France and it has plenty of experience, with just seven of the squad not playing in France four years ago.

Captain Irakli Abuseridze will team up with Merab Kvirikashvili in the inside backs and will look to steer the Georgian side around. Loose forward Mamuka Gorgodze is also a key for the Georgians.

The team is bound to play towards its big forward pack and try to keep a tight rein on the Scottish backs.

The weather will have a big impact on the game. Showers and a cold wind are forecast.

Scotland has made 11 changes to its starting XV from the team which faced Romania and will be captained by halfback Rory Lawson. Big locks Nathan Hines and Jim Hamilton will be expected to lead the physical approach.

Scotland assistant coach Gregor Townsend said the team wanted to play the game at pace and would stick to that game plan, no matter what the weather conditions.

"We'll have to adjust if the wind is as strong as it is today," Townsend said.

"It doesn't really change our mindset. We know we have to play at pace and we have to keep moving this Georgian team around."

Townsend said Scotland was expecting a physical challenge and would look to make play in the forwards.

The two teams have never met at senior international level.
