Baleage and hay comp

South Otago A&P Society baleage and hay competition co-organiser Ross Chalmers inspects entries in Balclutha on March 28.

Society secretary Heather Dudfield said the organising committee was pleased with the more than 80 entries.

About $8000 was raised at the event, she said.

The winners are: 

Baleage: Craig Sheppard, 1; Logan Kelly, 2; Johnny Bennett 3.

Large hay bale: Johnny Watt, 1; Allistar Gray, 2; Ian Forbes, 3.

Small hay bale: J & R Martin, 1; Fraser Leslie, 2.

Best overall bale: Craig Sheppard.

Moss Cross Trophy for heaviest bale: Lachlan Landels (892kg).
