The wreckage of the Alpine Adventures machine is held at the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) technical facility in Wellington.
It has been examined by a team from France, including an engineer from the helicopter manufacturer and three investigators from the French air investigation agency, the Bureau d'Enquetes et d'Analyses.
TAIC said on Friday the engine had also been inspected in the United States by the engine's manufacturer under the direct supervision of the commission's investigator in charge. Other components of the flight control system had been tested and inspected in Australia.
A spokesman said the TAIC was nearing the end of the analysis phase and work on drafting the report would begin shortly.
The draft report will go through several stages as the material is peer-reviewed by investigators. Once the commissioners have approved the draft report, it will then be sent under legal protection to ``interested persons'' and overseas agencies for comment.
``At this point we still envisage the final report being made public in May-June next year,'' the spokesman said.
South Westland-based Alpine Adventures was grounded in May, when Civil Aviation suspended the air operating certificate of managing director and long-time pilot James Scott, of Karangarua, amid safety concerns.
Mr Scott, and the company's former quality assurance manager Barry Waterland, have been charged under health and safety legislation. They are due in court next month.
According to Companies Office records, Mr Scott formed a new company in June, Fox Franz Heliservices Ltd.
