Warbirds scholarship for Wanaka-born pilot

Daniel Pezaro has become the first Wanaka-born pilot to be awarded a $5000 Warbirds Over Wanaka flying scholarship to improve his skills and experience in flying the vintage warbirds.

Mr Pezaro resigned from the Royal New Zealand Air Force last month after 15 years and now works for Air New Zealand.

He was a member of the air force’s Black Falcons aerobatic display team that performed at Wanaka earlier this year.

The second scholarship announced by Warbirds general manager Ed Taylor went to Masterton-based pilot Bevan Dewes.
