Wānaka Hospice Shop expands

The Wānaka Hospice Shop has expanded its Brownston St premises and welcomed a new manager, Jo Baynes.

Otago Community Hospice chief executive Ginny Green said the Wānaka shop  had evolved into a "super store" of high-quality second-hand goods.

Hospice closed its Wānaka warehouse operation late last year to simplify operations and bring all workers into one place, once more space became available at 11A Brownston St in January.

Ms Baynes was previously a volunteer co-ordinator of Kidz Kartz Southland.

More than 40 volunteers support the shop and help thousands of items move through the store every week.

"The incredibly vibrant central location and the new space has enabled the Hospice Shop to improve its stock processing, which makes life easier for volunteers and staff.

"It also means Wānaka locals have a one-stop shop with easy drop-off for donations," Ms Green said.

The Wānaka shop supports the Otago Community Hospice’s specialist palliative care service in the Upper Clutha.
