The Treble Cone Ski Area got 5cm of snow at the base from a storm yesterday and overnight.
Manager Toby Arnott said ''it all helped'' but he was unable to confirm an opening day yet.
''We're playing it day-by-day''.
The field was scheduled to open a week ago.
Cold temperatures were allowing snow making to continue during the day, and temperatures were expected to remain cold through the weekend.
Another storm is forecast for the middle of next week, but Mr Arnott said the forecast ''can change very quickly''.
