One of Wānaka’s biggest wine and food festivals is returning for its fifth year with local wineries and top musicians headlining the event.

Ripe 2026 announced Sir Dave Dobbyn was set to be the show’s headliner, performing lakeside at Glendhu Bay.

Supporting Sir Dave are The Relatives, promising to deliver the classic singalongs to finish the day, along with The Eastern coming in hot from Christchurch with their folk/country high-energy style. Representing the local scene is Ryan Caldwell welcoming the crowd with his rocking vibe.

The festival will also showcase over 20 of Central Otago’s best wineries alongside locally brewed craft beers from Rhyme and Reason and premium cocktails by Scapegrace Distilling Co.

From award-winning pinot noirs to refreshing rosés, crisp lagers, and expertly mixed cocktails, the drinks menu will be matched with a range of food from some of the region’s best dish makers.

Building on its growing reputation, Ripe was recently awarded the "Sustainability Initiative of the Year" award at the 2025 New Zealand Events Association Awards. The accolade celebrates the festival’s commitment to minimising waste and creating an environmentally responsible event experience.

Festival director Nathan White said this year promised to be the most exciting edition yet.

"Ripe is all about celebrating the region’s incredible food, wine, and people in one of the most beautiful festival locations in the country. To top it off with Sir Dave Dobbyn — a true Kiwi icon — makes this a very special event we can’t wait to share with everyone."

With an afternoon of live entertainment and food and drink matching the location, Ripe 2026 is set to offer the perfect recipe for a day of tasting, toasting, and celebrating Central Otago. — Allied Media
