Giant pizza franchise Domino's is set to open a store in Wanaka - but not everyone is happy about the fast-food chain setting up in town.
Domino's New Zealand general manager Scott Bush confirmed a store was set to open in Ardmore St in April or May depending on construction and consent processes.
A local franchisee would own and operate the store and full-time and part-time jobs would be available.
It was too early to know the size of the store and how many people it would employ but it was likely to be similar to the Queenstown store.
Ban International Fast Food Franchises spokeswoman Sheryl Alty could not be contacted yesterday but last year said the group wanted to ''help preserve the unique character of Wanaka'' and aimed to present a petition to the Wanaka Community Board.
By yesterday, the group's online petition had 1800 supporters, 700 fewer than its goal of 2500.
There is already a Subway store in Wanaka.
