Two people have been injured in a tandem paragliding incident near Treble Cone, near Wanaka.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the base of the Treble Cone ski-field after two people were injured during a bad paragliding landing.

They were a part of a group led by a local commercial operation.

St John was notified just before midday and sent an ambulance from Wanaka. Crew attended to two patients with minor injuries, a spokesperson said.

The pair were taken to Wanaka Lakes Combined Health Centre.

There was no word on the age or genders of the two.

Treble Cone is a popular spot for paragliders during the summer months when the ski field is not open.
