It comes after a plan change request for the development of a supermarket and higher density housing, and a resource consent application to replace the current tennis court on Northlake Dr with a series of villas.
If the plan change request is accepted, the supermarket will replace what was originally outlined in the development plan as a leisure centre.
The residents, who did not wish to be named but were of Mt Creighton Cres, overlook the tennis court, and told the Otago Daily Times yesterday they were dismayed at the removal of the recreational amenities.
``We're definitely not getting what we went there for.
``We wouldn't have bought land if that stuff wasn't there,'' they said.
They were also concerned about the intensification of housing in their neighbourhood, which they believed would turn into ``nappy valley''.
The changes made them feel like their properties would be devalued.
Keen to get their thoughts across to the developer, Michaela Ward Meehan, the residents plan on holding a meeting in the coming days with their fellow Northlake neighbours to discuss the issue.
Northlake development manager Marc Bretherton could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
