Lake Wanaka boaties will have a new place to get on and off their boats this Christmas.
Part of the lakefront development plan adopted by the Wanaka Community Board on Wednesday shows a new jetty just west of the boat ramp in Roys Bay.
Board member Calum McLeod told the Otago Daily Times yesterday planning for the jetty, which included a 20m floating pontoon, was well advanced.
The pontoon was salvaged from the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory and bought by the council for $6000.
The pontoon will lie parallel to the shore, and access will be available via a 20m gangway.
It will be available to both commercial and private boat operators. The jetty will be long enough to accommodate two 16m boats.
