A Swiss national has been granted approval to buy almost 204ha of land in Paddock Bay in West Wanaka.
Hermine Mauvernay, the sole shareholder of Apres Demain Ltd, has been granted permission to buy 203.6ha of land in West Wanaka Rd, by the Overseas Investment Office.
Mr Mauvernay’s purchase was approved by the OIO as he had already migrated to New Zealand and planned to live here permanently.
The land has been sold by Riverside Company Ltd. The company’s directors are Kimberley and Hayley Landreth.
Under the Official Information Act the value of the land was withheld in the decision to protect the privacy of those involved and because disclosing the value would prejudice the commercial position of the people who supplied the information.
Mr Mauvernay could not be contacted by the Otago Daily Times for comment yesterday.
