Department of Conservation Wanaka senior ranger Annette Grieve said additional areas of concern including a further rock fall and two additional slips would require work before construction of a track could take place.
‘‘Given the additional damage we will not be installing a temporary alignment and have begun work to evaluate the case for a new track.
‘‘Regrettably, it will be some time before a decision is made to commence construction of any further track in the Rob Roy Valley,’’ she said.
Doc reported all local tracks were open but care was needed on the Lake Wanaka Outlet Track and the Upper Clutha River Track due to flood damage and other work was required on some sections of those tracks.
