The bad luck was having her car and two kayaks stolen last week.
The good luck was that the thieves only wanted the $3000 Subaru and left the boats on the roadside undamaged.
One was a new $8000 JKK Low Line Magnetar which had not even been in the water.
``My partner is literally sleeping next to the boats these days, just in case,'' Ms Maier said.
She held out little hope of getting her car back undamaged.
Ms Maier won the Coast to Coast Longest Day event in February for the first time, and is preparing for her next event, a team multi-sport adventure race in China next month.
