The article, written by Todd Plummer and published last week, focused on Wanaka as the filming location for the upcoming movie A Wrinkle in Time starring Oprah Winfrey and Reece Witherspoon, set to be released in March.
Mr Plummer described Wanaka as a "must-visit for anyone with their eye on New Zealand".
"You should definitely add it to your bucket list," he said.
For years, Wanaka has been Queenstown’s baby brother, quietly watching as its neighbour became overrun by tourists and adventure-seekers.
"Seasoned travellers might find the hustle and bustle of Queenstown a bit disappointing. Insiders know that the real heart of adventure tourism is, in fact, Wanaka.
"It’s a little further out, just as scenic, and a whole lot more serene.
"Basically, it’s everything Queenstown should be," Mr Plummer said.
Figures in Lake Wanaka Tourism’s latest annual report showed the Wanaka region was already the fastest growing tourist destination in the country.
With Vogue having over a circulation of over a million worldwide, the number of people visiting the Upper Clutha district will just keep on rising.
