A young woman was airlifted to hospital yesterday morning after crashing her van into a paddock near Pukerau.
A police spokesman said emergency services were called about 10am to the scene of the crash on State Highway 1 between Gore and Waipahi.
A van driven by the woman, the sole occupant, crashed into a paddock, he said.
She was ''conscious and breathing'' when police arrived but no further details were available on her condition.
St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said the woman, in her 20s, was ''airlifted to Dunedin Hospital Emergency Department,'' departing the scene at 11.27am and arriving atop Dunedin Hospital at 12.05pm.
