A goat was one of the more unusual items stolen during a small crime spree in Owaka last weekend.
The small white family pet was tethered outside a property in the Katea Valley, west of Owaka, and was taken some time after 9pm on Saturday.
A stereo system was stolen from a milking shed just north of Owaka on Saturday might.
The thieves also moved an air compressor from inside the shed to the driveway outside, but did not take it.
They opened a valve on a milk silo, spilling 11,000 litres of milk, worth about $6550.
South of Owaka on the same night, wheel nuts were removed from a Toyota Hilux.
The owner had been visiting friends, and when he went to drive away, the wheel separated from the ute.
He was not injured when the ute ground to a stop.
After locating some spare wheel nuts, he returned home and alerted the police.
Constable Murray Hewitson, of Owaka, believed the incidents were related.
"Some boys probably thought it was funny [to remove the wheel nuts], but it could have been quite dangerous," he said.
He believed a group was involved.
