Police have released photos of the masked and shoeless man who tried to rob a pub in Gore at knifepoint wearing distinctive purple polka dot socks.
Detective Sergeant Scott MacKenzie, of Gore, said the man entered Traffers Bar about 8.45pm on Sunday.
He entered the Hokonui Dr pub armed with a knife and demanded cash from the manager, but was unable to access the till and fled, Det Sgt MacKenzie said.
Police said he was wearing. -
•A black long-sleeved hoodie.
•A black baseball-style cap.
•A pair of black knee-length Puma brand shorts.
•A red bandanna with white spots.
•Purple socks with black spots.
He was also carrying a black reusable Countdown shopping bag.
"If you recognise this person or the items of clothing he is wearing, then we urge you to contact us," Det Sgt MacKenzie said.
