Cordons are in place after a truck and trailer rolled on the Edendale-Wyndham Road in Southland this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene - at the intersection of Island Edendale and Edendale Wyndham Rds - about 9.30am.

A police spokesman understood there was one person in the vehicle and they had received minor injuries.

“The west-bound lane is blocked and council have were advised to assist with traffic control.”

Fire and Emergency crews also attended and St John had been notified.

The road remains blocked and detours are in place.

PowerNet advises of an electricity outage in the area after a vehicle hit a power pole, but police would not confirm if it was the rolled truck that hit the pole.

PowerNet's advisory didn't say how many customers were affected. It expected power to be restored by 4pm.
