Gore police are investigating an incident in which a woman claims a masked man broke into her home and assaulted her.
Detective Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said the incident happened about 6.40pm on Thursday.
A woman reported a man burst into her home, grabbed her and threw her to the floor.
She managed to break free after hitting the man with a piece of wood, and fled through a window.
The woman was not seriously injured.
A tracking dog was deployed but could not find the offender, and police are asking for information about any suspicious behaviour in the Forth St area at the time, as investigations continue.
