Police are seeking information about a vehicle believed to have hit a pedestrian in Invercargill yesterday.
Sergeant David Kennelly said a man was hit by a vehicle while walking on Elles Rd, near the intersection with Kew Rd, about 12.40am.
Police believe it was a deliberate act.
The 46-year-old man suffered injuries including a fractured pelvis, and remains in Southland Hospital in a stable condition.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a red Holden utility. It was recovered at Oreti Beach and subsequently reported stolen.
Police would like to hear from anyone with information about the movement of the ute around south Invercargill in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
They are also interested in any sightings of a red Holden Rodeo ute being driven to Oreti Beach between 12.40am and 7am on Tuesday morning.
