Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Oteramika Rd and Mill Rd South in Seaward Bush about 6.35am.
One person died at the scene, police confirmed this afternoon.
Inquiries into the incident were continuing.
Police have appealed for anyone who saw the crash, or who has information about it, to call them on 105.
