Oil spills after truck rolls in Southland

A crane has been called in to upright a large truck that rolled in central Southland today, spilling a large quantity of oil.

Senior Sergeant Ian Paulin, of Dunedin, said the truck rolled in Springhills-Tussock Creek Rd, near Springhills about 3pm.

The 25-year-old driver was uninjured, he said.

A ''large quantity'' of oil had spilled from the truck and Environment Southland had been called

HW Richardson Group was arranging for the oil to be cleaned up and for the crane to "right" the truck.

The road was not blocked, he said.
