Mystery over why murder trial delayed again

An Invercargill murder trial has been further delayed – now set down to start next week, but the reasons why have been suppressed.

Sandy Graham (32) is accused of murdering Dale Watene at Otautau on April 16.

George Hyde (24), who is also standing trial, is accused of accessory after the fact to murder at Otautau between April 16 and 27, 2020.

After a pre-trial hearing in the High Court at Invercargill this afternoon, Justice Gerald Nation adjourned the start date to Monday but suppressed the reasons as to why it was again delayed.

The body of Mr Watene (40) was found by police at Longwood Forestry Block in May, about a month after he went missing.
