Meth and cash recovered in raid

A man has been arrested for a series of methamphetamine and firearm charges following a raid in Invercargill.

The 33-year-old was arrested at 6pm last night (Nov 8) after a search of his Tay Street motel unit.

He was initially wanted on firearms related charges and will face further charges including possession of methamphetamine for supply and driving offences.

Methamphetamine and $7000 in cash was seized.

Detective Sergeant John Kean thanked members of the public for their assistance.

"We really appreciate those who came forward with information, which helped lead to this arrest.”

"We take this sort of offending extremely seriously and rely on the community to help us by being our eyes and ears."

The man is due to appear at the Invercargill District Court today (Nov 11).
