Man nabbed after stopping to count loot

An alleged burglar who was spotted counting a wad of cash outside an Invercargill property was apprehended by police when he apparently went in search of more loot.

On Wednesday morning, a witness watched a "suspicious" man come out of a Kelvin St address, count a wad of cash and return inside, before they informed police, Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle said.

Police were called shortly before 11am, and arrested an 18 year-old man at the scene.

The man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Invercargill District Court next week.
