Man denies burgling schools

An Invercargill man who allegedly burgled three Southland schools has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Shannon Ron McMurdo (35) elected trial by jury when he appeared before Judge John Brandts-Giesen in the Invercargill District Court yesterday on six charges of burglary, including of Wyndham Primary, Rimu Primary and Woodlands Primary Schools all on January 2.

He is also charged with three further burglaries in Southland between February 18 and 21 this year.

He was remanded in custody to appear on May 30 for a case review hearing.
