Knife-wielding man holds up Gore petrol station

A female petrol station attendant was held up by a man brandishing a knife in Gore early this morning.

Senior Sergeant Richard McPhail, of Gore, said the man entered the Z service station on Hokonui Dr shortly after 7am, and threatened the lone female attendant with a knife.

The man was disturbed by another customers, and he ran off with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Snr Sgt McPhail said the man was found a short time later by a police patrol in a reserve near Ardwick St.

Police have also found the cash and knife.

The attendant was shaken but unhurt.

The station remains closed while a scene examination is being completed.

A 20-year-old male will appear in the Invercargill District Court, on a charge of aggravated robbery.
