Claas Harvest Centre Southland sales manager Rob Walker said sales from Southern Field Days were in the millions, but he declined to reveal just how many tractors and implements had been sold.
''It really is a lot better this field day. The rural economy is looking really good - there has been an increase in lamb prices and dairy. People are quite positive.''
Tractors and grass/hay equipment proved to be the best sellers.
JJ Limited Invercargill branch manager Paul Jones said the three-day event was very worthwhile.
''We've sold a lot on site. We're very happy.
''It's better than previous field days.''
Confidence in the industry and commodity prices had led to a strong 12 months, he said.
Advance Agriculture salesman Richard Clapperton said interest in tractors and mowers had been high, another sign of the industry ''doing well''.
Thursday had been a busy day for the company's site, and by yesterday lunchtime eight tractors had been sold.
''It's the best field days I've been to so far, and we have lots of follow-ups to do with potential customers next week.''
Southern Field Days chairman Mark Dillon said the event continued to grow.
Yesterday, more than 15,000 people flooded through the gates to check out the wares of 789 exhibitors.
''It's our biggest day yet.''
All the exhibitors he had spoken with were really happy and had good sales.
''The industry is doing really well, particularly dairy ... But it all flows on to the other areas.''
Exhibitors and organisers will spend the next two weeks clearing and tidying the site.
