Flower show celebrates spring

Dozens of gardening enthusiasts turned out for the annual South Alive Spring Flower Show held at the  weekend at the Pod in Invercargill.

Attractions included a show of the best blooms and workshops for adults and children.

The kids Sam Ayres (8, left), Kasha Kennedy (8) and Ashey Ayres (10) created their own arrangements during the event.

South Alive manager Claire McDonagh said the flower show was a great opportunity to the community celebrate the beginning of spring.

‘‘It brings the community brightness, colours and vibrancy.’’
