A driver has died after his vehicle crashed on the road between Riverton and Wallacetown.
The crash on State Highway 99, near the intersection with Kennedy Rd in Southland, was reported about 5.45am today, police said.
The man was the only person in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
The Serious Crash Unit will investigate the cause of the crash.
Diversions remain in place while police conduct an examination of the crash site.
Police are in the process of notifying next of kin and no further information was available at this stage.
