Mataura ward councillor Steven Dixon has delayed a decision on whether he will step down from his position on the Gore District Council despite pressure from fellow councillors.
Councillors at Tuesday night's council meeting asked him to resign following his assault convictions after Gore Mayor Tracy Hicks asked the council to decide if it was "appropriate" for him to remain.
Cr Dixon said the discussion went "pretty much" the way he thought it would, but he would not make any decision for a "good couple of weeks", or more.
"There are a couple of things I want to see through for Mataura before I decide anything." These included the Mataura rates review.
