A 23-year-old cruise ship passenger was airlifted to Southland Hospital, after suffering a suspected heart attack this morning.
The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand received an emergency call from the Seabourn Odyssey ship at 12.30am.
The cruise ship, which left Dunedin on Tuesday evening, was in Foveaux Strait when the female passenger became ill, Maritime New Zealand spokesman Steve Rendle said.
The patient was airlifted to hospital early this morning.
