Taking shape just south of Gore, a $5.5 million facility will serve as the new headquarters of a local business achieving national success.

Stage two of the 1574sq m commercial building on the corner of Salesyard Rd and State Highway 1 is well under way and is expected to be completed later this year.

Documents obtained by the Otago Daily Times confirm the building belongs to Advancequip, a business for hiring heavy machinery and equipment.

Among the documents are two building consents, "to build a heavy equipment sales and service workshop with [an] adjoining two-level office block".

Advancequip managing director Steve McLean indicated the building would be ready later this year to be used as the business’ new headquarters, moving from its abode in Hyde St, in Gore.

In August last year, a $600,000 building consent was approved for stage one of Advancequip’s new headquarters.

A $4.9 million building consent for stage two was approved in November.

Advancequip was started in Gore in 2004, and had since expanded to establish branches in Auckland and Christchurch, and has authorised service centres across the country.
