Southland District Council will be asked to approve unbudgeted expenditure of almost $600,000 in the current financial year.
At a council meeting on April 10, approval will be sought for the unplanned $590,903 related to items such as operational and maintenance costs, increased counsultant fees, completion of Riverton harbour wharf and Wyndham camping ground.
Also included was an amount of $120,100 for the Stewart Island Electrical Supply Authority, related to shortfalls in generation maintenance, fuel, road freight, travel and temporary contractor fees.
In the council's forecasted financial position for the year ending June 30, 2019, written by council management accountant Joanie Nel, approval will also be sought for the deletion of projects with a total value of $338,557.
If approved by council, the projects that would no longer be going ahead include the Riverton wastewater upgrade, the Monkey Islands and Gemstone beach projects, Te Anau waterpark track and walkway as well as the Lumsden toilet facilities upgrade.
The same report reveals forecasted revenue from the budget had increased by $495,000 while operating expenditure was expected to increase by $566,000.
