The drivers of two Satherley Transport wide-load trucks carrying heavy machinery which stopped traffic in the main street of Balclutha last Tuesday morning had permission to be there.
Trucks using the main street instead of the heavy traffic bypasses on Charlotte and James Sts have frustrated many Balclutha residents and retailers.
Community Constable Tom Taylor said some wide loads were given exemptions from using heavy traffic bypasses, as sometimes it was "physically too awkward" for them to get around tight corners.
A spokesperson from Satherley Transport said the machinery was being moved from Christchurch to Invercargill.
