Clutha's senior citizens gathered in Balclutha this week to compete in their version of the senior Olympics.

The 16th annual Clutha Super Masters Gamesattracted about 90 senior citizens from rest-homes and clubs from throughout the district.

Competitors took part in five events - skittles, quoits, twister throw, floor netball and darts - over two hours.

Held annually in the Balclutha War Memorial Hall, the games are designed for senior citizens and aimed at providing a fun and light-hearted competition.

South Otago High School pupils Mikayla Latta and Sam Hollows were this year's local sporting personalities and carried the flags in the games' opening ceremony.
