Registrations for this year's Small Town Conference are beginning to ''stream in'' as preparations get into full swing in Clutha.
The Small Town Conference will be held in and around Balclutha from September 25 to 27.
The conference is hosted annually and held alternately in the North and South Islands. It aims to give small towns the opportunity to come together to share ideas, gain inspiration and promote their own communities.
Clutha District Council community support and development adviser Jean Proctor said the conference boasted a great line-up of inspirational speakers, memorable field trips and networking opportunities.
Twenty-five registrations had been received so far from as far as Auckland and Invercargill, and were now ''starting to stream in'', she said.
Aimed at enhancing small town development, the conference would focus on aspects such as business, individuals, communities, service providers, volunteers, and main street planning.
It would be a ''fantastic opportunity'' for delegates to hear practical, innovative ideas, build networks, share knowledge and empower people to make a difference.
Speakers include former Clutha woman Irene Mosley of Results Consulting - who also managed the fundraising drive for the neurosurgical campaign, and Otorohanga Mayor Dale Williams, known for his youth work.
Conference topics, themed around collaboration and inclusiveness, include youth and inspiring community leadership, asset-based community development, creative communities, heritage, the environment, health, education, tourism, social media, business and agriculture.
The conference will also include field trips to Milton, Tapanui, the Catlins and Lawrence.
Mrs Proctor encouraged people to attend the event, saying it was for locals as well as those from further afield.
Volunteers to help as drivers and hosts were still needed, and she asked anyone interested in helping out to contact her.
