Kelsey Harrison, who is involved with organising the show queen event, said the group of 10 contestants was kept busy in the day-long non-stop car-washing stint.
Each year show queen contestants raise money for charity. This year the chosen recipient was the Catlins Land Search and Rescue Team.
While Ms Harrison did not know the exact amount raised from the car wash, it was ``significant''. The girls hoped to raise at least $1000.
They also hosted a quiz night and were taking public donations.
The show queen winner will be announced at the 150th South Otago A&P Show on Saturday.
