A bicycle pump track has been proposed for Milton’s Moore Park.

Inspired by enthusiasm and feedback from local young people, community advocate group Project Bruce believes the project would offer challenging physical fun for cyclists of all ages.

The project would combine grass and asphalt with low-maintenance planting similar to a BMX track, ensuring the park remains picturesque.

"Project Bruce knows how important Milton’s green spaces are for all local people and is committed to ensuring every community member is aware of the project proposal and has the opportunity to voice their thoughts," Project Bruce community development worker Catherine Paul said.

"Initial discussions ... have been overwhelmingly positive and the team wants to ensure they have the blessing of the community before they proceed."

Through collaboration with experienced designers, the group want to create a track which will complement existing cycling features at the park, allowing riders to progress from mini-streets and the flatter track to the more advanced pump track contours.

Clutha District Council has expressed support, and Project Bruce is seeking external funding to ensure no cost will be borne by the community.

Project Bruce invites feedback by message, email, or in person at the Tokomairiro Hub.
