The Owaka swimming pool will open next month - earlier than usual due to upgrades funded by the public.
Last week, the Owaka swimming baths committee announced the community heated swimming pool would open on October 8.
Committee president Kim Dodds said the group had been working with the Catlins community for the past two years to raise funds to heat the pool and install lighting.
"We've had fantastic support from the community and especially from the Otago Community Trust."
An official opening will be held on October 8 at 1pm, with a pool party to follow. It will include a live band, a barbecue and aqua games. Pool entry for the party will be free, and a discounted season pass will be available only on that day.
"It's time for the residents of South Otago to get back into the water. We have a passion for swimming, water safety, and have a great facility here," Mrs Dodds said.
