Kaitangata is one step closer to running its own Out of School Care and Recreation (Oscar) group with funding and Child Youth and Family approval granted.
Programme manager Michelle Ramsay said interviews for staff would take place next week and she hoped Oscar would be "up and running" by September.
With CYFs approval, the programme could offer Winz assistance for families with children wishing to attend, she said. Oscar programmes are for primary school children aged between 5 and 13 and will be run in the Kaitangata Playcentre building.
