KAITANGATA: Organisers say they are "devastated" having to call off tomorrow’s Kaitangata Car Show, after recent heavy rains made host venue the Crescent Rugby Club unusable.
Event convener Louise Mclaren-Hosking said her committee had worked hard to drain the rugby ground following flooding three weeks ago, but further heavy rain last weekend had forced the cancellation.
She said it would be a disappointment to the 500-plus motor enthusiasts who had planned to attend, although she understood some would still visit independently.
"People are still welcome to come and enjoy some good kai hospitality. We’ll carry pre-registrations over to next year, and look forward to seeing everyone on November 1, 2025."
In future, the committee would consider scheduling a reserve day, she said.
